Welcome to Thorvald!

Sometimes, the process of making a stop motion animated film is a bit like being locked in a deadly struggle with a fearsome sea serpent, only to look into its face and recognize yourself. This blog is for anyone who has battled a 12-inch tall monster of their own and discovered a worthy adversary and a beautiful friendship.

Postproduction!

All shooting on The Burglar With the Yellow Hand is now complete! The first rough cut of the film has been edited together and sent to the composer who will be working on the score. The film comes in at just over 8 minutes at the moment, but will probably be a little bit longer.
There are still weeks of postproduction and effects creation ahead, but I am looking forward to seeing the film finished at last!
Keep checking back for images and clips!

Here is a frame from the first scene of the film (the green screen will be removed, the colors will be converted to  tinted black-and-white and aging effects will be added):

Studio Renovation

Principal photography for The Burglar With the Yellow Hand is almost at an end! Updates on the production will be posted shortly. Meanwhile, here are some shots of the studio, which has gone through some major renovations in preparation for the start of shooting. There are now shelves to hold props and materials that are currently in use, a section for tools in the centre and a storage section for sets and props from previous films.

Thanks to the IdeasTap Ideas Fund Innovators Award, The Arts Trust Scotland and generous private donations on IndieGoGo, I have also been able to obtain some new equipment for the shoot including these wonderful Red Heads with dimmers and barn doors:
