Welcome to Thorvald!

Sometimes, the process of making a stop motion animated film is a bit like being locked in a deadly struggle with a fearsome sea serpent, only to look into its face and recognize yourself. This blog is for anyone who has battled a 12-inch tall monster of their own and discovered a worthy adversary and a beautiful friendship.

Welcome to my lair. Visit my monsters and tell me about yours.

The IndieGoGo Campaign For The Green Wall is now Live!

I have just launched an IndieGoGo Campaign for my new stop motion/live action short, The Green Wall. Set in a modern Egyptian village and a mythic fantasy world the film that follows two parallel storylines -  the story of Fatima, a young girl with artistic ambitions who lives in a southern Egyptian village and longs for adventure and artistic liberation, and the epic tale of Flora, an animated character who Fatima identifies with. Flora is a defiant tree nymph who wants to be a malachite sculptor, but must first triumph over the tyranical Serpent King who rules the malachite mountains around her village.
Can the mysterious Green Wall be the key to the dreams of both Flora and Fatima? Follow the campaign to find out!
